As the last magazine consisted of mainly greyscale effects, I decided on a more colourful approach, something bright that appeals to the younger part of the target audience/demographic. I also applied a gradient to the background. It gets perfected as I edited the magazine.
I chose a green centre as it's the combination of blue and yellow, as shown in the model's clothing, and red as a complementary colour. It also has a use through red-topping; a convention that engages the audience, often through sensationalising teasers. In this case, it sensationalises the centre, as a contrast. I then applied the text and coloured the masthead. It would look clearer if i applied the complementary colours here. I also took inspiration from another magazine shown in the course ideas and examples, and placed a sticker in the corner, but the promoted offer was an original idea. The text itself was inspired from the magazines I analysed, on their teasers. The exception was the job hunting, as the target audience are likely to be employed, and most people would want to keep it that way, or want to end unemployment. https://researchbriefings.parliament.uk/ResearchBriefing/Summary/SN05871
I then used the magic wand tool to remove the white areas surrounding the text. I used DaFont and the snipping tool to apply the text to the magazine.
I decided to use Next, as it is a brand closely accosiated with fashion. Due to the many ways the logo is presented, i had to find one that matched the sticker- green on green is impractical. I also changed the colour to compliment the background of red.
Feedback informed me that the colours were too wild, so I condensed the colour scheme. Like in the previous magazine, the colours would confuse the audience. I also included an additional, more prominent title. I had difficultly discerning the title returning to the magazine in between posting here and updating the magazines.
However, the colour scheme was still too vivid, so I changed it to a pale blue and peach. Doing so allowed me to re-organise the text and image.
