The other magazine covers inspired my selection of projecting the Title.
I then applied the appropriate text.
To cover the dead space, I used an image of a beer. At this point, it was a placeholder.
I then applied a gradient. I wanted a grey left side to show a link to the cover; it bleeds into the inside of the magazine.
Suggestions led me to rethink the contents page. It wasn't as effective as it might've been. This was the new contents page:
